Collette Dinnigan Fall 2010

I think I'm going to get depressed if I do another Fall runway show this Spring, but I'll look at Collette Dinnigan's anyway. It's too beautiful to pass up. This Australian designer has a HUGELY... I don't know... ME style! Like that pretty little French girl kinda style. But I'm not little. Or French. Sometimes I really wish I was French, though. People in Virginia generally have absolutely horrid style... Not good at all. I usually get comments from some jerky girl on my bus about how weird my clothes/hair accessories are, which is very odd. I think. Maybe she just can't accept someone who doesn't fit into the Ugg-wearing masses. Oh, lord. I keep making Ugg-dissing comments. I should stop before I get OCD or something.

OK now, Erin. Time to go waaaaay back to the topic. But now I can't. Which is probably because of my brother making horse sounds. He's 15, by the way. Nothing weird about a 15-year-old, horse-sound making brother. Nope, nothing at all.

Wowzers. I didn't want to put the trench next to the tulle, but it turned out like this. I kind of like how you can just, I don't know, compare the two. I lovedy-love the shorter dress. It looks like something you could just dance in or something. Why couldn't I wear that in my 6 years of dance classes? I never liked the weird Minnie Mouse dresses. Ick.
This mirror-y dress is cool. I wanna go DISCO in it or something!
I love how chic these three are. The puff-sleeved one is very French-ish.

I find it special and unusual how this one model modeled the whole collection. I think she has the perfect look for the collection, so I really like the idea of it.

I guess I haven't said anything about my penpal yet. So I will now.

So, in French class, we have penpals, from FRANCE, of course. My penpal's name is Pauline. She rides horses and has 3 cats. Very cool.

I'll try to find a picture of me from a dance recital... I shudder at the thought of the costumes.

Elie Saab Spring 2010 Couture

I just love this Elie Saab collection! Normally I'm not a big fan of his work, but this collection was different. It kind of reminds me of the ocean. I haven't done a post like this for a little while, so I figured I'd do one now. Especially since i got publicly humiliated yesterday. You see, in Home Ec., I had to take a test on measuring and I did something really dumb. I forgot to do the back page of it! And to make matters worse, the students all checked each-others tests. Yeah, people laughed. But they're the real idiots in this situation. And kinda me. But mostly them. Inconsiderate jerks.

So you see, blogging is my escape from the inconsiderate jerks of the world.

These are some of my favorites. And there's a lot of favorites. I love the printed dress. It looks a bit like watercolor. The other dresses look almost gauzy. They're very flattering on the models. Who knows how they would look on a normal woman. Probably good, though.
Here's another watercolor print dress. I like this one even more, though. The ruching in the bodice is very pretty and the tulle underskirt is a nice touch. The little cap sleeves are my favorite, though.

The other dresses aren't quite as nice, but the pale beige one is close enough. I like how flowey it is.
Hmmm... I don't like these as much as the others. The brighter colors are a bit refreshing, though.
These are some of my favorite short dresses. The little cocktail bolero is really cute. I love the pink dress, though. It has so much simple detail.
And alas, we are to the end of the pictures. The beige one is very  sea-like. It looks a bit like coral and seaweed.

So, this Elie Saab collection gets an 8/10 in my blog. The colors are all a bit too similar.

Byebye for now!

Christian Dior Spring 2010 Couture

es, readers, I am back! And so much better than before. I had exams last week. I had to study for my French P.A.L.S. I was busy-ish and I kept telling myself every single weekend up until now "Yes, I will blog today!" As you can see, that never really worked out. And I feel guilty-ish. On the bright side, I am reviewing Couture for the first time!
Ooh-la-la! The pastels! The big tilted hats! Some of these looks seem almost magical with Chantilly lace and flower appliques.

I just LOVE the ankle boots! The white give it a more feminine look, while the black are a bit more tough.
They have such an old-fashioned look. I especially love the little buttons.

These ones are okay, too. Not my favorite, though.
What wonderful colors! This collection uses such a good variety of colors. You see the pastels and then this; beautiful ruby, sapphire, amethyst, etc. The far left look reminds me of a peacock. Maybe it would a bit more if the shoes were teal or green, too. Now the ball gown... The first of many, indescribably beautiful gowns... The colors are so perfect. It has a nice bustle and bodice.

Now these are so pretty, too! I love the color combos. Who would ever think to put cream with that orangey-brown color?  And the pale pink and periwinkle mermaid dress has such a cool bustle!

Now that blue and sage dress is REALLY cool. At first I though it was a weird jumpsuit, but then I realized it was a skirt. The ruby-red dress has such a nice bow on the bodice. But one of my top 3 picks in the entire 60-something piece collection is The scalloped/bow silver/pale pink/white dress! Are there even words to describe such a dress?!

This collection is in my top 3 for Spring Couture. To see it all, click here.

Bye-bye for now! Get ready to see a new couture collection soon...

Balmain Spring 2010 Ready-to-Wear

Another spectacular collection! Balmain! Woohoo! This collection is really edgy with a lot of military-style things, like jackets. This collection also has a jungle-castaway/cavewoman thing going on. It's a bit of a relief to have a break from all the dresses and cocktail-wear (No offense, Valentino!).

I'm not in the mood to do many comments/reviews. I just really like this collection. The mini-shorts are nice, but the military jackets beat ALL. The metallics are very nicely done, too.

I'm planning on dooing some reviews of Couture shows. Any suggestions?

Alberta Ferretti Spring 2010 Ready-to-Wear

Hello! I saw the Alberta Ferretti collection, and really liked it! So... that is the newest collection for me to post about. This collection contained sheer fabrics (Again!!!), pastel colors, and some very unhealthy looking models! Some day I'm going to have to post about the woes of models. I've modeled once. For my grandmother. She makes aprons and sells them at craft fairs. Now I'm going off topic. Time to go back to the collection.
I really like the clothes, especially the ones with the pale orange, lace fabric. My complaint? The sickly models. The colors blend into their skin. Even my brother realizes this! (He thought one of the models was nude as he glanced at the computer screen!) When a teenage boy realizes something like this, you know for sure that it's true!
Eek! Why did the picture on the right turn out so big??? Or maybe she's a giant! This irks me, so!

I do really like that lilac dress with the tie-around belt. If just the color popped against the model's skin!!! Why, Alberta, why???
Well, The models may look nude to the passer-by-ers of my computer, but the clothes are well made. The white fabrics can actually be seen against the pale-pink of the models' skin

Ah.... And here's the fancy stuff. "Red Carpet" as Alberta calls it. It seems a bit light and, I don't know, just too daytime-y. It wouldn't fit in on the nighttime red carpet. But why fit in? I suppose it's better to stand out.

I'm starting to bore myself here. Click here to see the full collection.

Valentino Spring 2010 Ready-to-Wear

I decided to review a whole bunch of the Spring RTW collections. I have over 50 to do! This time, it's the latest Valentino collection. I only used my favorite looks, so there were actually 44 in total, not nine. This collection had a lot of sheer fabrics. Sometimes a bit too sheer.

I really love the look on the left. The draping quality in one large word, exquisite! Yes, this is certainly what I expected from such a renowned designer and if I didn't see such perfect craftsmanship, I would be near disgusted. Yes, dear readers. Shouldn't this be an accurate response?
I really like the middle and right outfits. The middle one somehow reminded me at first of a butterfly.  It just looks so delicate and feminine! And then there's the long-sleeved cocktail dress. With sheer, flowy sleeves and a wide belt at the waist. What beauty!
I fell in love with these curvy ruffles. The coloring is like a pretty Hawaiian sand. Or something. (I can always find a resemblance, can't I?)

Over all, this latest Valentino collection is marvelous. If I had the money to buy a piece or two, I would feel like the luckiest girl on earth.

To go to the full collection, click here. (Warning- You may see some very exposed models. Watch at your own peril!!!)

Sincerely yours,

Erin

Betsey Johnson Spring Ready-to-Wear

Betsey Johnson... One of my favorite designers/brands (Which one is it? Both?) in the universe. This collection is super-duper-extra-extraordinary!There were cocktail dresses and work-ish outfits and EVERYTHING!!! The hair and headpieces are really spectacular, too. I just included some of my most favorite looks.
TULLE! Tons and tons of tulle! It's like that old Tootsie-Pop commercial with the little kid who asks an owl "How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie-Pop?" Just in this case, it would be "How many yards of tulle did Betsey Johnson use to make this collection?" The world will never know...
I love, love, LOVE the black cocktail dress. It's so girly and puffy and stuff!
Is it just me, or does the headpiece in the black dress outfit look like one of those three-cornered hats  that pirates wore?
The middle look is definitely my favorite look of all. It looks all French and pretty! The pattern on the fabric is perfect for this collection!
