Balmain Spring 2010 Ready-to-Wear

Another spectacular collection! Balmain! Woohoo! This collection is really edgy with a lot of military-style things, like jackets. This collection also has a jungle-castaway/cavewoman thing going on. It's a bit of a relief to have a break from all the dresses and cocktail-wear (No offense, Valentino!).

I'm not in the mood to do many comments/reviews. I just really like this collection. The mini-shorts are nice, but the military jackets beat ALL. The metallics are very nicely done, too.

I'm planning on dooing some reviews of Couture shows. Any suggestions?

Alberta Ferretti Spring 2010 Ready-to-Wear

Hello! I saw the Alberta Ferretti collection, and really liked it! So... that is the newest collection for me to post about. This collection contained sheer fabrics (Again!!!), pastel colors, and some very unhealthy looking models! Some day I'm going to have to post about the woes of models. I've modeled once. For my grandmother. She makes aprons and sells them at craft fairs. Now I'm going off topic. Time to go back to the collection.
I really like the clothes, especially the ones with the pale orange, lace fabric. My complaint? The sickly models. The colors blend into their skin. Even my brother realizes this! (He thought one of the models was nude as he glanced at the computer screen!) When a teenage boy realizes something like this, you know for sure that it's true!
Eek! Why did the picture on the right turn out so big??? Or maybe she's a giant! This irks me, so!

I do really like that lilac dress with the tie-around belt. If just the color popped against the model's skin!!! Why, Alberta, why???
Well, The models may look nude to the passer-by-ers of my computer, but the clothes are well made. The white fabrics can actually be seen against the pale-pink of the models' skin

Ah.... And here's the fancy stuff. "Red Carpet" as Alberta calls it. It seems a bit light and, I don't know, just too daytime-y. It wouldn't fit in on the nighttime red carpet. But why fit in? I suppose it's better to stand out.

I'm starting to bore myself here. Click here to see the full collection.

Valentino Spring 2010 Ready-to-Wear

I decided to review a whole bunch of the Spring RTW collections. I have over 50 to do! This time, it's the latest Valentino collection. I only used my favorite looks, so there were actually 44 in total, not nine. This collection had a lot of sheer fabrics. Sometimes a bit too sheer.

I really love the look on the left. The draping quality in one large word, exquisite! Yes, this is certainly what I expected from such a renowned designer and if I didn't see such perfect craftsmanship, I would be near disgusted. Yes, dear readers. Shouldn't this be an accurate response?
I really like the middle and right outfits. The middle one somehow reminded me at first of a butterfly.  It just looks so delicate and feminine! And then there's the long-sleeved cocktail dress. With sheer, flowy sleeves and a wide belt at the waist. What beauty!
I fell in love with these curvy ruffles. The coloring is like a pretty Hawaiian sand. Or something. (I can always find a resemblance, can't I?)

Over all, this latest Valentino collection is marvelous. If I had the money to buy a piece or two, I would feel like the luckiest girl on earth.

Sincerely yours,

Erin

Betsey Johnson Spring Ready-to-Wear

Betsey Johnson... One of my favorite designers/brands (Which one is it? Both?) in the universe. This collection is super-duper-extra-extraordinary!There were cocktail dresses and work-ish outfits and EVERYTHING!!! The hair and headpieces are really spectacular, too. I just included some of my most favorite looks.
TULLE! Tons and tons of tulle! It's like that old Tootsie-Pop commercial with the little kid who asks an owl "How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie-Pop?" Just in this case, it would be "How many yards of tulle did Betsey Johnson use to make this collection?" The world will never know...
I love, love, LOVE the black cocktail dress. It's so girly and puffy and stuff!
Is it just me, or does the headpiece in the black dress outfit look like one of those three-cornered hats  that pirates wore?
The middle look is definitely my favorite look of all. It looks all French and pretty! The pattern on the fabric is perfect for this collection!
